Preston Wedding – Jess & Paul Tie The Knot
I have been waiting for over a year and I can’t believe it has now been and gone. We met Jess & Paul over a year ago to discuss their wedding photography… as you can tell.. they booked us :). We seemed to hit it off quite well with J&P and although we didn’t really speak with them until a couple of months before the big day. It was one I had been looking forward to all year as Paul had a planned a little twist that was right up my street.
Unfortunately a few weeks before, we received some sad news that Paul’s dad had taken i’ll and had passed away. When it came to arranging their pre-wedding shoot, J&P didn’t need to think twice about the location and asked us if they could have it at the gardens in St Catherine’s Hospice in Lostock Hall where they had spent a lot of time recently with Paul’s dad. The grounds were amazing and it was great to meet up with J&P again and getting to know them more. You can see their pre-wedding shoot here. When we met up again to give them their images, it became clear that we had a lot in common. Paul is a big BonJovi fan so that’s a tick in my books. We are both into our gadgets (me coming from an IT background). Jess & Lucy both share an interest in beauty therapy/nails. It makes the world of difference when we get on with our couples as it really makes for more relaxed shots and it helps us push the boundaries a bit more when experimenting with some new idea’s
The Big Day
We are always nervous for our weddings, Its such a big responsibility and we don’t take it lightly. To be such a big part of someone’s special day is just amazing… especially when we help create memories. Jess & Paul’s wedding was no different but luckily, they had asked us to attend the rehearsal the week before. The wedding took place at St Mary Magdalene Church in Ribbleton, A beautiful Church close to where I used to live when I first moved to England. From early on it was clear to see that (although nervous) Jess & Paul were happy to just roll with the day as it happened. You know the groom is up for a laugh when he has ‘HELP ME’ written into the bottom of this shoes. After the ceremony, everyone relaxes and Paul gets his opportunity to start stripping in the church ground… not because it was a hot day, but more because himself and his groomsmen all had superhero shirts on. (I love things like this). Some the best shots of the day were just of J&P after the wedding.. and with very little direction needed, the look in their eyes says it all.
Fast Forward to a couple of hours later. After having a drink or 2 and jumping into the photobooth. We had a great time and were made to feel more like guests. Everyone could finally let their hair down and celebrate. We had a great chat with J&P before we left and I think its safe to say this is one couple we can add to the friends category, rather than just our clients. Hopefully, we will have a chance to catch up soon over a drink.
